In Evolve, Part 2 Incentives, the Fisher scientists have left the company at which they developed a genetic therapy that cures beast cancer. They abandoned their life-saving efforts because of the restrictions imposed on them by FDA Commissioner Harriett McGrady, leaving the laboratory fractured and in the de facto control of the government. The politically ambitious Senator Beal and FDA Commissioner McGrady seize on the opportunity of the departure of the company’s star scientists to appropriate the company and its genetic therapies to be the cornerstone of a new national health care initiative. Senator Beal believes that she can set herself up to win the upcoming Presidential election by introducing a national health insurance plan that covers everybody, balances budgets, and rectifies the social injustices of the past by delivering to the poor and underserved those medical advances of which they have long been deprived. Meanwhile, Senator Beal is confronted with a formidable political opponent the former hedge fund manager and billionaire Joseph Ivy. Ivy wins an open Senate election and presents a strong message of opposition to Senator Beal’s plans less government, less regulation, and less top-down control of people’s lives. While the war for the political future of the country wages, the Fishers reunite at a secret facility. They recruit other scientists to work with them on gene-altering drugs that cure disease, develop advanced musculoskeletal functions, and act as artificial organs. What are the scientists working towards and why? Will Senator Beal or Ivy capture the hearts and minds of the American people? Will the company that developed the first cure for cancer survive its own struggle to sell its products to customers and simultaneously function as a test bed for new FDA regulations? In Evolve, Part 2 Incentives, readers are introduced to new characters, are exposed to more facets of those characters that they came to love and hate in Part 1, and are placed squarely in the middle of a web of economic and political drama.
Evolve presents the reader with reality writ larger-than-life. Mirrored in Evolve are the present day exhortations for the government to create an environment of “fairness”; the belief that fat cat businessmen get rich while the average man becomes poor; the notion that rules, regulation, and top-down control are the answers to what ails the nation and the world; and both the Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party movements, with their conflicted, confused, and opportunistic messages. In Evolve, politicians attempt to control and direct the economy, regulation is used to “protect” people from themselves, and politics is shown to be a corrupt business, not a noble endeavor. Readers will come to see slivers of each of the novel’s characters in the people in their own lives. In this nascent, fired-up election season, the art of Evolve imitates and is imitated by reality. Human evolution, achievement, and the value of freedom are the novel’s core themes. Evolve is Jurassic Park meets Atlas Shrugged with a timely and timeless narrative.

I finally finished this book. Don't let the word finally bring to mind that this book was difficult or boring, but instead, let it stand for that fact that I haven't been reading much lately. Once I got back into reading, I found this book difficult to put down. I also had a difficult time not thinking about the plot, characters, etc. while I wasn't in the midst of reading.Like the first book, this one was well-written, politically-charged, and enjoyable to read. Whether intentional or accidental, this book (like the first) reminded me of Ayn Rand's novels in that they were a fictional story, but a fiction so easily thought of to be actual - a cautionary tale if you will. Furthermore, like Rand's work, Cross is able to write about a particular philosophy in an allegorical way, which works wonderfully in this case.
I am eager to read the third installment.

Evolve Part 2 Incentives edition by JD Cross Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Part 2 takes off right away with an exciting plot full of twists. The well- developed characters become even more vivid. The scientific integrity remains. I absolutely cannot wait to keep reading and am downloading Part 3 as I write. Thank you JD Cross!
I loved Evolve, Part 1. The moment I saw Part 2 & 3 were available, I ordered them right away. The lives and antics of all the characters you love (and hate) continue. The plot thickens. You will not be disappointed with Part 2. The day I finished it, I began reading Part 3 and I am already enjoying that book immensely. Thanks JD Cross for a great story!
